A very important day on the calendar for Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is just hours away.
The annual KGH Day of Giving, a one-day call to action for the community to come together to support local healthcare, will happen on Wednesday.
This year’s fundraising efforts are dedicated to advancing cancer care at KGH, specifically in the areas of medical imaging, pathology, surgical oncology and innovation.
“We all want the confidence in knowing that when this life-altering disease affects you or someone you love, world-class diagnostics and surgical care are available, close to home,” said KGH Foundation CEO Allison Young.
“For most cancer patients living in the Central Okanagan, Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) will be a huge part of their journey and we need to advance cancer care where it matters most for them.”
The KGH Foundation says generous local families have stepped up to match all funds raised on KGH Day of Giving, up to $500,000, dollar for dollar.
This will be the eighth annual KGH Day of Giving, and it hopes to build on last year’s efforts that saw nearly $800,000 raised.
An important annual fundraiser, KGH Day of Giving is just a small part of the grander goal of the ‘Closer to home than you think’ campaign.
Launched in April 2023, the campaign aims to raise $40 million to address the growing concerns facing healthcare in the southern Interior region, including cancer care.
