New Kelowna Canadian Tire expected to open this fall

The wait is nearly over for local Canadian Tire fans as the company’s new Kelowna store is expected to open this fall.

While a concrete date was not mentioned, officials told KelownaNow that the new store is scheduled to open in early October.

Located at the former site of Costco at the corner of Hwy 33 and Hwy 97, the new building will be around 209,000 square feet in size.

That includes 107,000 square feet of retail ground space, 75,000 square feet of warehouse space, a 14,000 square foot service centre and a 25,000 square foot garden centre.

The current building on Leckie Road is a little more than 83,000 square feet in size, according to BC Assessment.

More details about the store’s features are expected to be released closer to the opening date.
