Police searching for driver after 22-year-old killed in Hwy 97 hit and run

A young man was killed in a crash on Highway 97 at the weekend, police have revealed.

BC Highway Patrol said the 22-year-old from Surrey was walking south on the highway near Cassini Cellars Winery when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop.

The winery is about six kilometres south of Oliver.

Police said they’re now hoping for help from the public to identify the driver.

Anyone with information about the incident, or footage that could be relevant, is asked to call 250-499-2250.

Police added: “BC Highway Patrol is reaching out to the individual or individuals responsible and asking them to do the right thing and contact the RCMP immediately.”
